MARMARA SHIPYARD Delivers Twentieth Vessel

On September 26, the twentieth vessel built by MARMARA SHIPYARD Inc., “Amisos” was floated off its blocks following a small ceremony with the executives of Marmara Shipyard and YILDIRIM Group of Companies and members of Yildirim family in attendance.
Amisos is a 8,500-dwt general cargo vessel with a length of 122.20 m and a width of 16.40 m.
Marmara Shipyard, which was founded in 2003 and acquired by YILDIRIM Group in 2007, is planning to deliver 8 more vessels until the end of 2014.
“Currently, we are building three general cargo vessels, a 20,000-dwt vessel and two vessels with capacities of 11,500 dwts. We have an annual building capacity of 30,000 dwts and we are working full capacity at least until 2014 with 400 employees.” said General Manager Elif ARTAN. “The construction of Amisos was started in January 2011 and it took less than nine months to be floated off. Our shipyard is able to deliver high standard vessels within the shortest possible periods of time.”
Marmara Shipyard designs and produces a wide range of products including container vessels, dry cargo vessels, tankers, LPG ships, car ferries, tug boats, barges and pressure vessels. The shipyard has been building ships with projects verified by and under the supervision of International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), gaining a substantial amount of experience in the application of the national rules of flag countries.
